When a licensee leaves their broker and does not obtain a new sponsor card, their license status is classified as inoperative. This means that although the individual still holds a license, they are not currently authorized to engage in brokerage activities or conduct real estate transactions. A sponsor card is essential because it links the licensee to a specific broker who oversees their activities. Without this association, the licensee cannot lawfully act as a real estate professional. A licensee's active status is contingent upon having a valid sponsor card from a licensed broker. The lack of a new sponsor card does not allow for the license to remain active. Furthermore, practicing under any broker without the proper sponsorship violates licensing regulations, and there is no requirement to wait 30 days before reapplying because they must first establish a new sponsorship to maintain active status.
